All of my paintings involve the conscious application of colors, both thick and thin, constructing vibrant, often translucent layers. Each color reacts to the adjacent and the whole. Normally, the paint is put on canvas one layer or color at a time, but occasionally, responding to an artistic intuition, I will go back and scrape away paint exposing primal color below; hence the deconstruction. Usually pleased, I discover once again that the process, playing color and texture in mixed measure, always reveals something new. This is what I did in this painting.
